    Preperations Required Overnight fasting is required. Before to sampling, it is advised that the patient stop using oral anticoagulants for seven days and heparin for one day, respectively. Discontinuation should only be done with the treating physician permission. Kindly keep note: For Coagulation assay, individual separated citrate plasma tube required, minimum 1ml each if more than one factor assay is required in view of batch assay of some of the parameters

Overview

The factor VII assay is a blood test to measure the activity of factor VII. This is one of the proteins in the body that helps the blood clot. 6 mL Whole blood in 2 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tube. Mix thoroughly by inversion. Transport to Lab within 4 hours. If this is not possible, make PPP within 1 hour of collection as follows: Centrifuge sample at 3600 rpm for 15 min. & transfer supernatant to a clean plastic tube. Centrifuge this supernatant again at 3600 rpm for 15 mins. & finally transfer the supernatant (PPP) to 1 labelled, clean plastic screw capped vial. FREEZE IMMEDIATELY. Ship frozen. DO NOT THAW.
