Overview

Ingestion of Gliadin peptides contained in wheat, rye, and barley induces immune-mediated inflammation of the small intestine in genetically susceptible individuals with Gluten-sensitive enteropathy/Celiac disease. This disease is more common in first and second-degree relatives of affected individuals.
