Fibrin degradation products (FDPs) indicate only plasmin-cleaved fibrinogen or soluble/insoluble fibrin, unlike D-Dimer, which indicates both thrombin and plasmin formation. Increased FDPs may be a sign of primary or secondary fibrinolysis due to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), severe liver disease, or other conditions associated with increased fibrinolytic activity.
