TRANSFERRIN (O.S.)

Overview

Transferrin is an iron binding serum protein which increases in response to iron deficiency in chronic diseases and due to other causes. This assay is useful for workup of patients suspected of having congenital tr,ansferrin abnormalities and is also useful as Screening tool in patients having chronic iron overload diseases, particularly hereditary hemochromatosis.
