To diagnose dengue fever early and accurately the Dengue Rapid Test Antigen (NS-1) and Dengue Antibody (IgM IgG) Test are necessary. Early detection usually within 1–7 days of symptom onset is critical because the NS1 Antigen test finds the dengue virus in the bloodstream during the first few days of infection. IgM indicates a recent infection while IgG indicates a previous exposure or secondary infection. The Antibody test detects both IgM and IgG antibodies. A blood sample is used for both tests which provide quick results. With an accuracy of 75–95% and a sensitivity of 80–90% respectively the NS1 and IgM/IgG tests help to diagnose and treat Dengue.
