Overview

The PAPP-A (Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein-A) test measures a key protein produced by the placenta during pregnancy. PAPP-A levels are notably higher during pregnancy. In the first trimester, reduced PAPP-A levels in maternal serum may indicate an increased risk of chromosomal abnormalities like Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) or Trisomy 18.
