CANDIDA-DETECTION BY SMEAR EXAMINATION (VAGINAL SWAB).

Sample Required

Adequate saturation (The swab has absorbed sufficient specimen)

Preparations Required

The patient should preferably avoid vaginal douching, intravaginal medications, antifungal creams, or pessaries for at least 24?48 hours prior to sample collection, if clinically feasible. The sample should ideally not be collected during menstruation unless clinically indicated. Any ongoing or recent antifungal therapy should be mentioned on the test request form, as it may affect smear findings.
