Preparations Required

The patient should preferably avoid vaginal touching, intravaginal medications, antiseptics or intercourse for at least 24?48 hours prior to sample collection. The sample should ideally not to be collected during menstruation, unless clinically indicated. Any ongoing antibiotic treatment should be mentioned, as it may affect smear findings.
