Overview

Meningitis and encephalitis are the infections of the central nervous system (CNS) caused by various pathogens. These infections are associated with long term sequelae like cognitive deficits, vision and hearing impairment, sensory and motor deficits.Real -Time reverse transcription PCR (RT- PCR) for qualitative detection of 8 bacterial, 12 viral and 2 fungal pathogens known to cause meningitis and encephalitis. This is a comprehensive panel with a syndromic approach to aid in diagnosis of meningoencephalitis.
