PLEURAL FLUID EXAMINATION

Overview

Pleural Fluid Examination helps diagnose the cause of fluid buildup in the space between the lungs and chest wall (pleural cavity). The test analyzes fluid for its appearance, cell count, protein, glucose, and LDH levels, along with microbiological and cytological assessments. It is commonly used to detect infections, cancer, or other underlying conditions such as heart failure or liver disease.
