Overview

The Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) serum test measures the enzyme LDH, which is involved in energy production. It helps diagnose and monitor tissue damage, as elevated levels are associated with conditions like liver disease, myocardial infarction, hemolysis, and certain cancers. LDH is released into the bloodstream from damaged cells in tissues such as the heart, liver, muscles, and lungs.
