Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a glycoprotein normally found in embryonic entodermal epithelium. increased levels may be found in patients with primary colorectal cancer or other malignancies including medullary thyroid carcinoma and breast, gastrointestinal tract, liver, lung, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostatic cancers.
