CYTOLOGY (URINE)

Overview

Urine cytology is a test to look for abnormal cells in your urine. Its used with other tests and procedures to diagnose urinary tract cancers, most often bladder cancer. Your doctor might recommend a urine cytology test if you have blood in your urine (hematuria) or other symptoms such as frequent urination, painful urination, or unusual urinary tract infections, to help determine the underlying cause and guide appropriate treatment.
