LACTATE

Overview

The Lactate assay aids in diagnosing and monitoring lactic acidosis, a condition where lactic acid accumulates due to impaired cellular metabolism. Lactate, the end product of anaerobic metabolism, is primarily produced by skeletal muscle, the brain, and red blood cells, and is metabolized by the liver. Elevated levels can indicate hypoxia, metabolic disorders, or toxin exposure and are associated with symptoms like fatigue, hyperpnea, and confusion.
