Overview

The Procalcitonin (PCT) test measures serum levels of procalcitonin, a biomarker that increases in response to bacterial infections and sepsis. Elevated PCT levels assist in diagnosing bacterial infections, differentiating them from viral infections, and assessing the severity of illness. This test can also guide antibiotic therapy, enhancing patient management in suspected infection cases.
