CERULOPLASMIN (COPPER OXIDASE)

Overview

Ceruloplasmin is an acute phase protein and a transport protein for copper. It is decreased in Wilsons disease, an autosomal recessive disorder. Low levels may also occur in Menkes syndrome which is a genetic defect in copper absorption.
