Overview
A comprehensive diagnostic Panel called the PCOD Advanced Package (KYC) is intended to assess multiple Hormonal and Metabolic parameters that are critical to the diagnosis and treatment of Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD). Important tests like the LH Ratio (Which evaluates Ovarian function and may indicate Ovulatory problems) and Testosterone levels (Which show the extent of Androgen excess—a common characteristic of PCOD) are included in this package. The TSH 3rd GEN evaluates Thyroid function and the DHEA-Sulfate test gives information about Adrenal activity. Prolactin levels are assessed to rule out Hyperprolactinemia and information about Ovarian reserve is provided by AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone).
Insulin resistance is a common metabolic impairment associated with PCOD that is assessed using the HOMA Index. In order to evaluate Cardiovascular risk the package also includes a lipid profile that measures Total Cholesterol Triglycerides HDL LDL and VLDL. Moreover Glucose (Fasting) is measured to track Blood Sugar levels and detect any early indications of Diabetes or Glucose intolerance. This advanced panel offers an extensive overview of the hormonal and metabolic elements necessary for PCOD management.
You may need to fast for at least 10-12 hours before the sample collection. The samples required for this package are serum and plasma. The results of this package testing will be compared to the standard.

Tests Included in PCOD Advanced Package -(KYC)
13 Tests are included in this Package, which are:
- LH:FSH Ratio
- Testosterone
- TSH 3rd Gen-Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
- DHEA-Sulfate
- Prolactin
- AMH-Mullerian Inhibiting Substance
- HOMA Index
- Cholesterol HDL
- Cholesterol Total
- Cholesterol LDL
- VLDL Cholesterol.
- Triglyceride
- Glucose (Fasting)
Significance of Each Test in PCOD Advanced Package -(KYC)
- LH:FSH Ratio: The LH:FSH ratio test is important for PCOD detection because it can detect hormonal imbalances. An increased LH:FSH ratio, which is often seen in PCOD women, is indicative of irregular menstrual cycles and disrupted ovulation.
- Testosterone: Since elevated testosterone levels are often observed in women with PCOD, the testosterone test is important in the diagnosis of the illness. Signs of excessive testosterone production include irregular menstrual cycles, acne, and hirsutism (excessive hair growth).
- TSH 3rd Gen-Thyroid Stimulating Hormone: Because the TSH 3rd Gen test assesses thyroid function, which affects hormonal balance and metabolic health, it is essential for the diagnosis of PCOD. It aids in the diagnosis of thyroid conditions, which frequently coexist with PCOD and have an impact on menstrual irregularities and general health.
- DHEA-Sulfate: The hormone DHEA-Sulfate comes from the adrenal glands and acts as a precursor to testosterone and other androgens. In the PCOD Advanced Package, elevated DHEA-Sulfate levels may be a sign of adrenal hyperactivity, which may contribute to the excess androgen that is generally observed in polycystic ovarian disease. In PCOD, measuring DHEA-Sulfate levels aids in distinguishing between ovarian and adrenal sources of excess androgen.
- Prolactin: The pituitary gland secretes the hormone prolactin, which is principally in charge of promoting the production of milk following childbirth. Measuring prolactin levels is crucial in relation to the PCOD Advanced Package because high prolactin levels, or hyperprolactinemia, can cause irregular menstruation, infertility, and galactorrhea, or the unintentional production of milk. Elevated prolactin levels can also resemble or worsen PCOD symptoms, so it's important to check for and manage it as soon as possible.
- AMH-Mullerian Inhibiting Substance: Ovarian follicles produce the hormone AMH (Mullerian Inhibiting Substance), which aids in determining ovarian reserve. Elevated AMH levels are often seen in Polycystic Ovary Disorder (PCOD Advanced Package), suggesting a greater number of follicles and supporting the diagnosis and assessment of fertility potential.
- HOMA Index: Insulin resistance is measured by the HOMA Index, which evaluates insulin and fasting glucose levels. A high HOMA Index in the PCOD Advanced Package denotes insulin resistance, a common metabolic problem associated with polycystic ovarian disease. This aids in determining and controlling the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular issues in individuals with PCOD.
- Cholesterol HDL: The "good" cholesterol that helps prevent heart disease is called HDL cholesterol. Measuring HDL is important in the PCOD Advanced Package since low levels raise cardiovascular risk and its a common feature in PCOD.
- Cholesterol Total: The total amount of cholesterol in the blood is determined by the cholesterol total test. Since PCOD often results in abnormal lipid profiles, which can raise the risk of heart disease, the PCOD Advanced Package aids in assessing the overall risk of cardiovascular disease.
- Cholesterol LDL: Because high levels of cholesterol LDL (low-density lipoprotein) can cause plaque to accumulate in arteries, raising the risk of heart disease, this cholesterol is referred to as "bad" cholesterol. Since elevated LDL tends to occur in PCOD patients, measuring LDL is important to assess cardiovascular risk.
- VLDL Cholesterol: Triglycerides are carried by VLDL cholesterol (Very Low-Density Lipoprotein), which also leads to the accumulation of plaque in arteries. Because elevated VLDL is associated with PCOD and can raise the risk of heart disease, measuring VLDL levels aids in evaluating cardiovascular risk in PCOD patients.
- Triglyceride: Elevations in blood fat, specifically triglycerides, can raise the risk of heart disease. Since elevated triglycerides are often related to PCOD and metabolic syndrome, measuring triglyceride levels helps to evaluate cardiovascular risk.
- Glucose (Fasting): Since insulin resistance is a common feature of PCOD, the fasting glucose test is essential for detecting PCOD. Increased risk of diabetes is indicated by elevated glucose levels, which direct early interventions such as medication and lifestyle modifications to control symptoms and avoid complications.
Preparation for PCOD Advanced Package -(KYC)
- You need to fast for at least 10-12 hours before giving samples for this comprehensive testing.
- Drink adequate water before sample collection.
- Avoid vigorous physical activity before the sample collection.
