Components of RPR/VDRL Test

RPR: RPR (Rapid Plasma Reagin) is a screening test for syphilis. It measures substances (Proteins) called antibodies that are present in the blood of people who may have the disease. The RPR test uses a card-based method where results are visualized through clumping (flocculation) on a test card.
VDRL: By detecting antibodies generated in response to the infection, the VDRL test, a non-treponemal screening method, can help in syphilis detection even at the earliest stage. The VDRL test is performed on microscope slides and requires observation under a microscope to detect the reaction.
